For families, there is endless fun. The manor house sits centrally, with rolling lawns that lead down to a pristine waterside with a slipway onto the water allowing for the launch of speedboats, sailing dinghies and other watercraft.
From sailing, water-skiing, kite-surfing and stand up paddle boarding directly from the property, there’s also horse riding on the pristine Die Plaat beach or through the Fynbos, in the Stanford Hills. A myriad of breath-taking hikes, for all levels of fitness, through the Fernklook Nature Reserve, or wine tasting at some of South Africa’s most prestige vineyards in the famous Hemel-en-Aarde valley.
Walker Bay is world renowned for land and boat-based whale-watching from June to late November. And shark-cage diving from Kleinbaai, the shark cage diving capital of the world, is an exhilarating option for the adventure-seekers, year-round.
Grotto beach is one of Hermanus’ most popular beaches with sand, surf and seasonal bars and restaurants including the famous Dutchies Restaurant and Summer Lounge. If the lagoon water is high enough, you can even take a speedboat from the manor house to the beach.
